Crain Strain

1.)Define the problem: Your team must design and construct a crane that will hold the greatest amount of weight before failing.

4.)Specify constraints/criteria: The crane boom must attach to the provided tower.

A one-quarter inch (1/4”) hole will be used to mount the crane to the tower.

All joints must be glued (no mechanical fasteners).

The crane may not touch the tower during testing.

Counterweights are allowed, but they may not be adjusted during testing.

The boom must hold the weight fourteen inches (14”) from the tower center.

5.)ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS: i LOOKED UP DIFFERENT DESIGNS AND MY FIRST CHOICE WILL BE MY SOLUTIONS.

7.)proposal: i want to create a crain that can hold more weight that what the crain weighs. I'M CHOOSING MY DESIGN BECAUSE IT LOOKS STURDY ENOUGH AND MY DESIGN I DRAW THE WAY IT IS TO SHOW HOW IT WOULD WORK.

10.)Refining Design: I don't see the need to refine my design. the equation works.

11.)Creating or Making It:Making the project i needed to make sure it was moe stable in order for it to hold the most weight that it could.

11.)Reflection: When I built my crane I wasn't expected it to hold much weight. My crains ratio was 4246.6:2.5 equaling 45.91. My crain also weighed the least in the class.
