In "The First 90 Days", Watkins talks about the 10 big challenges leaders need to help transition into higher management. One of them is understanding how to diagnose an organization's problems. In his discussion, he references four leadership roles that go along with common issues that come with continuing a period of transition. The new role requires new expectations and opportunities. Strategies that worked in a previous position may fail in the new one. By the end of "The First 90 Days" you gain understanding into how to establish a business situation and adjust their strategies to meet the challenge.

The book was letting people know how to become accepting and to know what kind of job they are getting into. There are a few do's and don'ts when it comes to a boss. You should know how they are and how they operate, you shouldn't surprise them or approach them with problems that aren't appropriate, but you should make a good impression with ones your boss respects.
